{"id":1428,"date":"2019-09-20T05:29:48","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T05:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/?p=1428"},"modified":"2021-09-20T11:17:30","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T11:17:30","slug":"sum-total-of-all-the-actions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/sum-total-of-all-the-actions\/","title":{"rendered":"Sum total of all the actions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Annie Carpenter \/ Hannah Leighton Boyce \/ Antony Hall \/  para-lab<br>\nOctober 2019 \/ Rogue Project Space, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Sum total of all the actions\u2019 turns the exhibition space at Rogue Studios into a temporary research and making space, bringing together the work in progress of three practitioners and one collective, all with interests ranging broadly across the sciences, from physics to perceptual processes and chemical reactions. Throughout October, the group will base themselves in the gallery to explore the interplay between disciplines, materials and senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_8574-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_8574-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_8574-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_8574-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antonyhall.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_8574-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather than presenting an exhibition as a finishing point, \u2018Sum total of all the actions\u2019 is a moment along a timeline. It focuses on the processes that artefacts embody and the cumulative collaborative actions that bring these objects and documents into existence. The gallery is used as a testing ground for collaboration; presenting prototypes and \u2018adhock\u2019 assemblages, with active and sometimes performative elements. These are emergent artefacts; ideas that accumulate at the interface between different disciplines, a grey area in-between, drawing our attention to the more speculative nature of working beyond the divisions and specialisation afforded by academic structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors are welcome to visit the space any time during the\nmonth by appointment, and there are three scheduled public events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday 3 October, 6-8pm &#8211; para-lab reading group <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday 17 October, 6-8pm &#8211; para-lab seminar on the\nscientific concept of beauty <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday 18th October, 10.30-3pm &#8211; \u2018Seven practical experiments\u2019 is a new work by Antony Hall, a workshop like experience of perceptual illusion and art.
