Auris is Manchester\u2019s new sound art focussed festival that takes place across Manchester. As part of this Dorkbot curated a tabletop maker-fair featuring artists, makers and creative technologists, with a focus on experimental sound, music and playful technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Lois McDonald\u00a0presented\u00a0<\/span>her oracle, an experimental electronic interface exploring gestural interaction.\u00a0<\/span>Fiona Brehony, Katrin Losleben and Simon Knighton\u00a0present\u00a0<\/span>Listening With Water, bringing together field recordings, experimental composition and listening practices exploring rivers, Arctic waters and urban environments.\u00a0<\/span>Billy Payne and David McFarlane\u00a0from\u00a0<\/span>DMLab North West (Drake Music)\u00a0showcase accessible musical instruments and prototypes designed for inclusive music-making.\u00a0<\/span>Freddy Mendoza\u00a0showed work exploring the electrical conductivity of biological materials, transforming touch and contact with living matter into sound.\u00a0<\/span>Janet Douglas\u00a0showed her work combining textiles, electronics, and sound. All this and <\/span>Cristiana Palandri and KMR\u2019s amazing instuments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The rest of the festival was brilliant \u2013 Saturday included Signkid\u2019s BSL performance; Hayley Suviste and Ryan Woods leading peaceful soundwalks through Castlefield; Lee Patterson\u2019s; a Rubbish Music talk and using everyday objects; Matt Barnard talk on impulse response; and Francisco L\u00f3pez\u2019s sound work experience while blind folded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dorkbot MCR is a local network for artists, creative technologists, makers, designers, engineers and curious minds working with electronic art and technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dorkbot events bring together talks, demos, installat ions and experiments in an informal space for sharing ideas and trying things out. https:\/\/dorkbotmcr.org\/<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
